Breaking down the Gender Pay Gap through a machine learning model

Being able to decompose the gender pay gap (GPG) and determine contribution of each component is important design appropriate policies reduce it. With aim providing a new tool achieve this, in this paper, we propose decomposition approach based on machine learning model. The was implemented population 5,742 Argentinean IT-related workers obtain value adjusted unadjusted GPG four-phase process: sample characterization, development wage predictor, calculation GPG, analysis explained GPG. According our analysis, there 20%, 7,7% which can be exclusively by direct discrimination while 12,3% ascribed other factors, such as total years experience, educational level, number people charge.
